![]() I didn't even have a chance to exit my seamoth and he had clamped on again, I ejected while he was holding it and got stuck scrambling in pitch black, dirty, radiation water. I could hear the reaper as I went but I didn't realize how fast they were to show up. I didn't put in enough thought to consider "Hold on… it's the middle of the night and pitchblack and I know there's an active reaper right there" so I went back. Immediately after repairing, I decided "Well, time to go back and scan that engine part!" so I went directly back there. I then retrieved the seamoth and learned it was sitting at about 15% durability then I weaved and bobbed my way back towards the escape pod starting area where I was able to repair the seamoth. ![]() With some extremely close maneuvering with the seaglide and deft use of the scanner, I managed to successfully scan the reaper. ![]() The reaper discarded the seamoth and turned to swim at me. I didn't finish the scan on the engine part and instead panicked and started chasing to try and recover the seamoth. Just as I exited the seamoth a reaper came up behind it and snatched it and started to swim away from it Down in the sand, I found a piece that looked like it'd be an engine, "great!" I thought so I drove the seamoth down and went to scanning. In my first time exploring the crash site, I went along the port-side towards the front, so I went to the backside of the ship this time. I couldn't remember where I had found the two engine pieces I already had.Įventually I remembered that I thought I had seen them around the outside of the alterra crash site so I put the radiation gear on and went to have a look in my seamoth. I had most of the pieces of the Cyclops scanned but was sitting at 2/3 engine parts and just kept finding bridge/hull pieces but no engine. He wasn't there to witness the event, but this is the story I sent him: I didn't know what that meant, but carried on playing. He said he was looking forward to my first "reaper encounter". At the end or beginning of one of my sessions, my friend asked me about what the biggest creature I'd seen yet and I told him the same – I saw them only at a distance. I had seen some big creatures in the distance but never got up close to any of them. I was off to a pretty good start collecting blueprints and getting the seaglide and seamoth up and running. He would spectate a lot of my gameplay over steam but was basically there as an observer and provided little to no guidance.
